About Dr. Weisberg
Welcome to my practice, Optimal Performance MD. My name is Mitch Weisberg. I became a Medical Doctor (MD) in 1987 and a Board Certified Internist in 1990. I love what I do and I strive to be a life-long medical student and grow in my profession for as long as I live.
In October 2014 I passed the American Board of Internal Medicine Certification Exam for the third time in as many decades. In 2006 I received and continue to keep up my certification as a Master Psychopharmacologist, which means I have more knowledge, clinical experience and enthusiasm than the average Internist when it comes to diagnosing and treating mental health disorders. Most recently, in February 2020 my career long commitment to view and treat Obesity as a medical disorder culminated in my passing the examination and becoming board certified by the nascent, American Board of Obesity Medicine.
DISCLOSURE: In spite of all of the above credentials, I have to admit that I missed the lectures in medical school in which doctors learn that the mind and the body are separate. As far back as when I was a 16 year-old gymnast I realized that physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health are all indivisible components of a single entity I like to call, a person. Accordingly, within my clinical method, a symptom is whatever my patient tells me is keeping him or her from feeling and performing at their true potential (optimally).
